More work for "the project" which is now called "Pjotr".

Here's what we did today.
Julius built a rough traincart interior in 3D over the past few days. Here's what it looks like when you render it in lines:

He then put some rough colors on it and (lazily!) pasted in my concept art for the girl:

Then it was my turn. I painted the characters and the details. The finished image:

It's alot of fun working like that. Julius has a great eye for colors and light and his work saves me alot of headaches. Sometimes we'll pass an image back and forth a few times before arriving at a point where we can call it finished.

I did some more character concepts, too. Not much to say here.

Did some character designs for the new animated short I'm working on. First some portrait sketches I did to find a style and interesting faces.

And two guys I put some more work into because I liked them.
Keep in mind, this is very early stuff, so nothing final here, just getting started and finding the flow and all..

Echoes

Julius and me finished work on our short film "Echoes" some time ago.
Ian Dorsch did the music and Jochen Mader did the sound design. They both did a great job and I'm very happy they worked their magic for us.
From now on, every collaborative project between Julius and me will be done under the name "Werkpilot". You can visit our website and watch "Echoes" here:

Soo.. here's a bunch of stuff from the past few months.
I've been working on a short animation with my friend Julius.

Turns out my scanner works just fine under Vista 64, it's just that CS4 64 bit doesn't "do" twain or whatever, so now I have to use some other program for scanning, which is a bit silly, but hey..

Sorry for never updating this blog. I bought a new pc earlier this year and Vista 64 sadly does not support my prehistoric scanner.

On the left is a hybrid portrait of two people. I started drawing Dario, then he got up and left, Kemane took his place and I just kept going. Dario + Kemane = Kemario!

Here's a postcard I painted today.
I played around with all kinds of stuff and tried to imitate a texture I saw in one of Sam Weber's paintings. It reminds me of veins, which could be useful for a class assignment I'm working on.

Sorry for the creepiness, I guess it's a Halloween postcard.

I'm working on a lot of stuff right now, I hope I'll have something cool to show in a few days.

Edit: Forgot something.
Here's a sketch I did of my buddy and amazing artist Markus Neidel.
This was painted from life on a Cintiq (which drove me crazy). I finished the sketch at home on my trusty Intuos3, because I don't need them fancy Star Trek machines!

Here's another postcard I finished the other day. I rounded the corners on both cards because I like the look. Also, organs seem to be an ongoing thing for me..

Acrylics, various inks and lots of water on cardboard

I had a lot of fun doing this one, I experimented with wacky techniques. Here you see the whole card submerged in water with a few drops of ink for good measure:

Turns out the cardboard was actually three layers of paper which promptly came apart when I took the thing out of the water. I glued them back together with a mix of glue and acrylic medium, now the card feels like it's made of rubber. Pretty cool.

In other news, it seems I have a stalker:

Welcome to my new blog!

This will be the place where I show my sketches/paintings/illustrations from now on.
Let's do this!

Here's a sketch I finished a few minutes ago. It is pretty tiny, since it's a postcard which I will be sending to someone from my Illustration class. Everyone in that class will send a postcard to someone else every week, I'll make sure to show the cards I receive on here.

I really hope this survives the journey. I might just drop it off personally since the guy doesn't live very far away.
